Our lady of the Southern Cross College
Dear Az,
On behalf of the teachers and the Year 12’s of Our Lady of the Southern Cross College, I would like to thank you for conducting a full day workshop on our recent Yr 12 Retreat.
Year 12’s are quite often a difficult crowd to gain and maintain the attention of for a full day workshop, but you had no trouble in doing this. From the moment you began the day, you not only had their attention but also their full participation. There was a great mix of resources used throughout the day with real life stories, multi-media, physical games, you tube clips and thought provoking challenges to encourage the students to consider how they viewed the world around them locally and globally. These challenges extended from them seeing the problems in our world to considering how they can then have an impact on these problems through their everyday actions and attitudes.
The examples of local ways, like Operation Shopping Trolley, they can get involved in gave a practical element to the day and we extended further back at school with the students developing ways they could reach out and make a difference in our school community. There were so many areas of the workshop day that we have been able to continue to cultivate back at school and that our students themselves regularly come back to and remind us of.
It is rare to find such an engaging and action packed program in just one day for such a reasonable price – and for that we extend a huge thanks to you and your organisation. The impact you had on both the individuals and the group as a whole is continually reflected in the change in their social awareness in their everyday lives back in Dalby.
We would (and have) highly recommend you to other schools that are looking to cultivate a higher level awareness of the world to their students. We loved the idea that "To change the world you must first change YOUR world!"
Yours Sincerely,
Cate Brennan
